Dermal Fillers

Dermal Fillers for Non-Surgical Facial Rejuvenation

Dermal fillers are among the most preferred non-surgical skin rejuvenation procedures. They are commonly used to address issues such as hollows under the eyes, lip augmentation (volume enhancement), deep scars, and acne scars, as well as laugh lines extending from the nostrils to the corners of the mouth (nasolabial folds), forehead lines, and defining the contours of the temples, jawline, and cheeks. Fillers minimize deep wrinkles and their longevity varies between 9 to 18 months, depending on the treated area, filler composition, and individual factors.

The main component of dermal fillers is Hyaluronic Acid, naturally present in our bodies. Hyaluronic acid decreases with age, leaving room for deep lines and hollows. The filler material consists of cross-linked hyaluronic acid, and its placement depends on the softness or firmness required for specific areas. For instance, under-eye filler is very soft, while areas with bone structure, such as cheeks and jawlines, may require a firmer filler. Lip fillers have a shorter duration due to the constant movement and exposure to heat. The longest-lasting results are typically achieved in areas with less movement and firmer filler, such as along the bone structure.

In case the results of the filler are undesirable, it can be easily dissolved using a substance called hyaluronidase.
